Mayo 2008. IES Vasco de la Zarza - Bourne Community College: Tres años de hermanamiento

La aventura comenzó hace tres cursos ya y, entre cartas, e-mails, página Web y videoconferencias, hemos ido haciendo camino juntos. Como recordaréis, el curso pasado, un grupo de chicos y chicas de 3º de ESO de nuestro instituto viajó a Inglaterra para conocer el instituto con el que estamos hermanados en un pueblo de la costa sur de Inglaterra, Southbourne. Allí, además de asistir a sus clases y conocer a alumnos y profesores de la escuela, visitaron pueblos y ciudades de la zona, compartieron comidas en el instituto, probaron nuevas recetas, cruzaron un trozo de mar en barco y tantas otras experiencias que quedan en el recuerdo. Pues bien, ahora ha llegado el momento de que ellos vengan también a conocernos a nosotros.
Esta semana esperamos la visita de un grupo de profesores y alumnos del Bourne Community College que estarán entre nosotros tres días. Han venido para conocer nuestra ciudad, nuestro instituto y, también, para conocernos a nosotros, la comunidad educativa del IES Vasco de la Zarza. Durante estos tres días compartirán nuestras aulas, asistirán a nuestras clases y también participarán en ellas para contarnos experiencias y recuerdos de sus pueblos o ciudades, de su tierra, tan diferente de la nuestra. Ellos vienen de una región marinera y van a encontrarse con una ciudad del interior, casi en el centro de España; aquí, cambiarán su mar por nuestras montañas y nuestro paisaje; cambiarán sus nubes por nuestro sol (si el tiempo es amable y lo permite); aparcarán sus uniformes por unos días para empaparse del ambiente de nuestro centro, a veces tan bullicioso pero siempre tan cordial.
Hemos preparado actividades dentro y fuera del instituto para compartir estos días, hablaremos incluso de poesía, Antonio Machado y Federico García Lorca compartirán cartelera con Seamus Heaney y Gillian Clarke; miraremos Ávila desde lo alto de nuestras murallas y también, cómo no hacerlo, les mostraremos algo de nuestra cocina… Serán sólo tres días, muy poco tiempo, pero intentaremos que sean inolvidables para todos.

May 2008. Bourne Community College - IES Vasco de la Zarza : Three Years of Partnership

Our adventure began three years ago and, among letters, e-mails, websites and videoconferences, we have walked a way together. As you remember, last course, a group of boys and girls in the 3rd of Secondary Education from our school travelled to England to know our partner school in a village on the south coast of England, called Southbourne. There, as well as attending lessons and meeting teachers and students, they visited towns and cities in the area; they shared school dinners; they tasted new recipes; they sailed in the sea and enjoyed many other experiencies that are kept in our memories for ever. Well, now the time has come for them to come to know us.
This week we are looking forward to the visit of a group of teachers and students from Bourne Community College who will stay with us for three days. They have come to know our city, our school and, of course, to meet us, the educational community of IES Vasco de la Zarza. Along these three days, they will share our classrooms, they will attend our lessons and they will take part in them to tell us their experiences and remembrances from their villages and cities, from their land, so different from ours. They come from a coastal area and they are going to find out an interior city, nearly in the centre of Spain. Here, they will change their sea by our mountains and landscape; they will change their clouds by our sun (provided the weather is wise and it allows); they will park their school uniforms for some days and they will get soaked in the atmosphere of our school, sometimes so noisy but always friendly.
We have prepared activities in and out of our school to share these days; we will even talk about poetry: Antonio Machado and Federico García Lorca will share protagonism with Seamus Heaney and Gillian Clarke; we will watch Ávila from the top of our Walls and -of course- they will taste some of our Mediterranean diet ... It will be only three days, so little time, but we will try to make the experience unforgettable!
