Skateboards
move by pushing them along. The rider puts one foot on the board and
uses the other foot to push the board along. Once the board is moving,
the pushing foot is put on the board. You have to be able to turn it.
If you lean back on your heels it turns in that direction and this is
called "carving".

Basic skills:
To use a skate board, the rider needs to have a good balance and board control. To control the board, the rider must be able to turn; this can be achieved by leaning back on the heels in the direction of the turn or by leaning towards the toes in the opposite direction of the turn. The last procedure is called carving.
Safety:
Safety is important; you have to know how to fall down and you must wear a helmet and pads to protect yourself.
Skateboards
were invented in California in 1960. The riders wanted to move on land
by pushing themselves. They cut a piece of wood and they put some wheels
on it.
Places where to ride your skateboard:
You can skateboard in the streets being careful with cars and people or you can skate on special ramps made for it.
